Problems with old system |
Students should read through the list of possible problems and explain in their own words the problems they are experiencing with their current system ...
- If you hand write the data you cannot produce more then one copy of it.
- If you make a mistake whilst writing out the data, you have to start again.
- Also if you make a mistake you could cross it out, but it makes your work look untidy.
- You cannot save your work, so if you loose the data you have hand written you have to re-do it.
- It takes up a lot of space keeping sheets in a filing cabinet.
- It is difficult to keep sheets in order and search through them to get information.
- You have to draw your own graphs of results and interpret data yourself, which takes time.
- If you loose a sheet of work then you have no backup copy to use.
- Paper records are easy to damage and get worn out over time.
- You can’t add new columns and delete columns easily
- You need a calculator to do the sums
- You cant update records by changing numbers so formulas do calculations
- You can’t get graphs to change as records change
- You can’t link results between different sheets of data.
When students have completed this section, they should then talk about their users ...
